New Year's Eve

What do you normally do during the eve of Chinese New Year? Well, some people would be rushing back to their hometown, some people would just relax at home and some people would be busy preparing for the New Year. Being in a foreign country, which does not really celebrate Chinese New Year, there is not much atmosphere as in Malaysia. However, it did not deter my friend’s intention to celebrate it. He called up a few friends and suggested to have a potluck style dinner. Note: if you are not sure what potluck means, please search the word on wikipedia, alternatively, it just means everyone bring something for the dinner.

Having the desire to cook chicken rice for a long time, the chance finally came :p looking up the internet, the Hainanese chicken rice recipe caught my attention. Recipe decided, time to get the ingredients! To be honest, only once in a blue moon that I go all out to get the ingredients, and this is one of those times. After the grocery shopping, it was time for the kitchen. It was really exciting as it was my first time preparing this dish, yet scared at times as it might turn out bad. Nevertheless, it was hard work for 1.5 hours. Eventually, it was done, and I was late too =b really sorry to SaoLee, who ended up helping me finish preparing my dish.

The chicken, mostly blocked by the cucumbers >_< The chilli garlic sauce, which was really tasty, I think

Before departing to our destination, I gave some of the chicken to my neighbour, who had treated me to his wonderful cooking too many times, that made me feel really bad >_<>6.45pm when everyone arrived. Everyone then dived into the food. There were roast duck, chicken wing, Indian curry, French fries, pizza, vegetables and Hainanese chicken, a mix of everything! It was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had in the UK, probably due to the much effort that was put into it.

The Food!!

The food, the atmosphere, the people, everything was really great! Had a really wonderful time! Think my tummie will agree too :b the cheesecake Sao Lee brought for dessert had to be delayed for some time as we were all too full. Oh, forgot to mention that the steamboat was delicious! Would not have stopped eating if not for my small stomach. We played games while digesting our dinner, leaving space for dessert and pineapple tart. The whole outing ended around 12.30am, and it was really great fun!

A really unforgettable Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner. Hope you guys had a marvellous time as I did. Wish you all a prosperous Chinese New Year!

|| 新年快乐,万事如意,学业猛进,身体健康,笑口常开… ||

By the way, they said the chicken was nice, guess the recipe was really a good one ^^ Till the next time, you guys take care! *still can taste the dinner just now =b*

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!
